Things To Know About The 1967 Corvette

John Smith | July 17, 2010

The 1967 Corvette is regarded as a very popular vintage car that will send tingles down the spines of Corvette lovers worldwide. As a part of the 2nd generation Corvette, the 1967 model year left quite an impression on the sports car collecting world. This Corvette is simply one the better looking Corvette’s of its era and is highly coveted in the car collecting world.

The 1967 Corvette wheelbase of the convertible and the coupe models ended up being equally 98 inches. Length was 175.1 inches. The width of the 1967 Corvette was 69.6 inches. The curb weight was 3360 pounds for both the coupe and the convertible. The standard axle ratio was 3.55.1. The powertrain actually changed hardly any from a year earlier.

The 1967 Corvette came with 11 inch disc brakes on the front and back. It came with a standard 3 speed manual transmission, however you could pick a 4 speed manual or a 2 speed powerglide.

Some of the options included features such as leather-based seats, power windows, headrests, soft Ray tinted glass, auxiliary hardtop, shoulder belts, air conditioning (amazingly only 3788 people added this option), vinyl covering, positraction rear axle, special front and rear end suspension, air injection reactor, transistor ignition system, heavy-duty brakes, the 390, 400, 435, 350, and 430 hp engines, aluminum cylinder heads on the L71, four speed manual transmission (close ratio or heavy-duty), powerglide tranny, 36 gallon fuel tank on the coupe, off-road exhaust system, side mount exhaust system, telescopic steering column, power steering, cast aluminum bolt on wheels, redline tires, speed warning indicator, AM/FM radio.

The rear engine of the 67 Corvette was really the L88. Lots of people regarded this car as near to a racing engine for a production automobile that has ever been publicly released by Chevrolet. It can flat-out run like a scalded dog. It had 12:5:1 compression and a huge Holly 4 barrel carburetor. This sweet motor could generate 560 hp at 6400 RPM but it had to be used with 103 octane racing fuel. Most people could not achieve the speed with the gasoline from their local gas station, but it undoubtedly showed a great deal of power anyway.

The year of 1967 was the year in which Corvette’s sales drop by 5000 units, due to a new redesign that was coming out. However, the 67 Corvette is considered one of the quintessential collector cars of all time. Its impact on the car collecting world has been tremendous.

Find The Perfect GPS System For Cars

Daniel Faust | December 26, 2009

If there is one thing in driving that is certain, it’s the fact that if you have a GPS system with you, driving becomes a lot less stressful. By the time you are done reading this article, you will know what the most important parts of a GPS system are so you can purchase one that is right for you.

Display

The first thing you should be looking at is the size of the screen. The smaller the screen is the harder it will be to see where you will be needing to turn. Most people agree that the optimal screen size is about six inches.

Maps

Once you decide the screen is big enough, you need to find a system that has great map coverage. You will need one that covers all of North America, and you might want to consider one that covers Canada if you will be traveling a lot. Look for a GPS system that has a USB plug that will allow you to upload maps from your computer.

Directional

Having your GPS system actually talk to you is probably the best way to get directions, it sure beats having to constantly look at the map. You will find that basically all the systems have some form of speech but not all of them have the text to speech. When the system has built in text to speech capability, you will actually be told what street to turn on rather than just hearing “turn right in 500 feet”.

Design

You need to choose a design that you like, there is no right or wrong for this. But if you find yourself driving different cars often, it is important to get one that allows you to switch from one car to another easily.

Magellan GPS System-Is Magellan The Best?

Mike Lemburg | December 25, 2009

One of the most annoying things you can go through in life is being lost while driving and having no idea where to go. Back in the day, if you found yourself lost while driving somewhere you would have to take out the map in order to find your way. Remember how hard that was?

Lucky for us, technology pulled through and created GPS systems. But are all GPS systems the same or is one better than the other? That question seems to keep getting asked, so we decided to research it and we have discovered something.. The best system is the Magellan GPS System.

Right now, we have twenty four GPS satellites circling the globe providing us with direction down to the nearest foot. These systems use to only be available for military reasons but technology has developed enough to allow us to use them in our every day lives.

Actually, the majority of cars today come with built in GPS systems. This is great news for those of you that can afford a car with one. But for the rest of us, money is tight right now so we need to find a GPS system you can take with you wherever you go.

One key benefit we found with the Magellan GPS systems is that they have a great choice of portable ones that you can take anywhere. You can’t do that with the ones built into a car.

If you are a person who loves the outdoors, you will enjoy the fact that Magellan has a large selection of hand held systems that you can take with you on a hike. You won’t ever have to worry about getting lost in the woods if you have a hand held GPS with you. Also, for those of you that love to go shopping, this can come in handy if you go shop in a mall you aren’t familiar with. Just plug in the name of the store and you will be able to locate it within seconds.

GMC Truck Search Online

Russ Finestein | December 17, 2009

Consumers recently have been able to uncover a great deal more classic GMC pickup trucks for sale than ever before. It depends on the way you define “old”, or as some people call “classic” trucks, an old GMC pickup truck is tough to outclass.

When you’re shopping around for a used classic truck, customarily the best place to go is to your local newspaper classifieds. The reality is that this is where you can come across the vehicles that are really close to you, but this is rapidly becoming an outdated means for finding used trucks available. These days, the internet is the easiest method to get what you want in your pursuit to find even local antique vehicles for sale.

Sure, I graciously advise my own classic car classifieds website, Buy Old Cars.com, but there are many other places on the Internet to uncover that special classic you have been shopping around for. Among the different internet car ads sites include eBay motors, Craig’s list, and a whole host of other classic automobile websites.

When searching for a classic truck on the Internet, just be aware of the fact that not everything is factual on the Internet. You need to do your research. Get a sense for the people who are saying they are selling a particular car. In no way send cash to ship a car or truck without looking at it. Go observe the truck in person. Just be smart.

Keep in mind that GMC trucks can be found everywhere. General Motors is the second largest truck maker in the world. GMC has innovated in the area of engineering the best trucks in the industry. The quality of trucks that have come out of GMC have been phenomenal.

An old classic GMC truck is no different in terms of excellence. People who buy those classic trucks are not simply swayed by other trucks out there. From the front fender to the back tailgate, the value is there! Buy a classic GMC truck online!

Auto Gps System-What Is The Best One?

Mike Lemburg | December 16, 2009

Where am I suppose to turn?!

Do you find yourself saying those words often? If so then you should probably consider purchasing an auto GPS system. In the past couple of years, these systems have become extremely powerful and useful in a person’s daily life. Not only do GPS systems guide you to where you are going to go, they also help you find the cheapest gas stations, roadside assistance, food, entertainment, and whatever else you can imagine. Some of these systems will even help you find the quickest route in a traffic jam.

The POI’s (points of interest) are probably the most important thing when it comes to GPS systems and it is the first thing you should look at. Typically, all the new GPS systems will have a good amount, but you might want to check just to be safe.

If you find that the system has a good number of points of interest, you should check the size of the screen. Some people liked the big screen and some like the small screen. A screen that is somewhere between five to seven inches is perfect if you would like it to be big, if you want a smaller one then look for a screen around 2.5 inches.

If I were you I would typically try to stay away from the GPS systems that will allow you to play music through them because these are way more expensive and most cars already have the radio.

An important thing when looking at GPS systems is deciding exactly what you will be using it for. If you are in a situation where you have to drive around a lot it may be worth it to spend some extra money on one that will give you live traffic updates. If you are just using it to get to a house or find a building you probably will not be needing that feature.

The newest GPS systems actually have a text to voice capability which means it will actually tell you what street to turn on and in how many miles. This is extremely important as it allows you to concentrate on the road rather than having to look at the screen.
